January 1: Writing Year In Review

I usually use my first post of the year to review what I wrote and posted over the previous year. But again, I didn’t do too much posting in 2025. So I think this will be more of a general, informal reflection on my writing last year.

What I Did Post:

Updates to the Transitive Property: chapter 12-18; current word count: 91,944 on AO3. Daria; Daria/Jane/Tom

The Return: an old story I actually wrote a couple of years, but kept forgetting to cross post. The 100; Lincoln/Octavia

Free Writes:

On tumblr, I mostly worked on my Year of the OTP prompts (currently at 10/12 prompts filled) and my Tom/Daria fic, Cliche, which I’ll also be continuing in 2026. But I also wrote some other stand alone pieces earlier in the year, as well as a couple installments on a t100 Wells/Bellamy/Clarke fic that I’m playing around with. All of the year’s ficlets are on this tag.

Other Writing:

And I worked on a bunch of stuff that hasn’t (yet) seen the light of day. Some of this will be finished and hopefully posted in 2026. Some of it is just for me, and either won’t be posted or (possibly) will be posted anonymously. And some of it is just very up in the air. Maybe I’ll finish it, maybe I’ll post it as abandoned fic, maybe some secret third thing.

One of these, my Tom/Daria/Jane fic from Poly Week 2024 (not a typo), I finished the draft of today, and I’ll post it when it’s fully edited and ready. I’m not sure when that will be as the draft is pretty rough, but the majority of the work is done.

Other projects include my Daria College AU and Grad School AU, as well as a reallly old T100 fic I was working on toward the beginning of the year. I ended up setting aside most projects to finish the aforementioned Poly Week fic, so everything feels in a sort of hiatus state now. I’ll have to make some decisions about what I want to prioritize and how much.

I definitely feel like I’m at a creative crossroads, and I’m not sure how 2026 will go. I went through a period some months ago when I added a bunch of ideas to my ideas list, when I felt full of ideas, and now I’d like to either write some/try some out, or maybe cull some as not actually interesting. So, we’ll see how it goes.
