June 14: Zoo

Busy day today meeting animals at the zoo with @riotsquirrrl. We saw lots of reptiles and also some amphibians, several big cats, and spent some time with the elephants before close. Then had an excellent dinner on the way back. It was a lot of walking and the day was very humid, so all in all I was worn out after. I feel pretty pathetic being so sleepy at 9pm. But a shower helped a lot, and actual bed time will probably be 10–and isn’t going to sleep at that hour often my goal? Ah, I am never content!

I also stubbornly refuse to learn the lesson that showers ARE my miracle cure. Much like a tiger, I love water. If I had my laptop I would want to do some writing. But it’s probably better I don’t–I’m really curious about what actually going to sleep early feels like lol.

Spending time with animals is so interesting. It feels even a little surreal. They just move so differently, and they give off such intelligence so difference than a human’s, and yet human intelligence is all I have to compare it to. Truly appreciating the natural world IS one of the purposes of being alive.
