Random takeaways from the TVL panel:

 

Renaissance angel Assad Zaman fr. He’s so beautiful. His hair is so long.

I cannot believe there was a question about Lestat and Armand and not about Lestat and Louis.

Save me from audience questions. In general. (I do think that one was inappropriate, sorry.)

Some of these questions/lines of conversation made me actively uncomfortable lmfao. But also I’ve kinda forgotten which ones. Well, one I remember. But there was something else where I was like ‘please stop.’

Oh, actually I’ve remembered them both (‘daddy’ and ‘throuple’ uggggggh)

Everyone looked so good though. Can’t go wrong dressing your whole cast in black and adjacent colors lol.

I can’t believe they made Assad get on a plane and get on stage right after. Like he’s still wearing the nails! Let him live. And he still looked comparatively well rested ngl.

Trailer thoughts: Louis looks so fucking good; I wanna see the tour bus; is Lestat going to eat cunt on tv? (probably not but I’m going to pretend)

Regardless of my annoyance about how little L/L there was throughout this panel and, honestly, even the trailer, I am not, like, causing drama about it because I don’t have the patience for that. I’m 50000 fandom years old. This is the Loustat show, that’s been said, it’s been known, tits can collectively be calmed. Like, I was annoyed, but I wasn’t… worried? Why worry? In the place one goes to, hopefully, to escape worry?

Did Eric talk at all? Weirdly I really can’t remember anything addressed to him in this panel, only the Talamasca one (which I was only half-paying attention to because I don’t really care).

I’m literally the opposite of a book purist but I do think changing Gabrielle to Gabriella ‘because she’s Italian actually’ is so weird. Like are you well actually-ing Anne Rice on the smallest possible detail of her own books? Also she is Italian but lives in France? I dunno, weird as hell hill to die on.

You can tell that I wrote the first points right after and now it’s been a while and I’ve reflected and eaten and become more coherent.

Controversial take I won’t be explaining in detail but I think the promotion of this show has a really weird idea about what a spoiler is. They seem to think it’s basically any information about the show. But you can’t promote a thing without… talking about the thing? Like I know the meme is that Eric Bogosian spoils things but he literally just answers questions without giving a fuck about arcane and arbitrary rules because he’s 70 and what are you going to do about it? There’s a more coherent point here than I can make at midnight but the tl;dr is that to get excited about something you need some kind of hook for your excitement and ‘something… will happen? But?? We can’t tell you?’ is not a hook.

Yeah, this was just a weird experience. I haven’t watched anything, like, live in a long time, and I don’t know that I’ve ever watched something like this live. A lot of data, a lot of STUFF, a lot of reaction, but at the end of the day not that much substance in the thing itself, honestly? Like I think if I get the chance to rewatch that panel, I’ll find a few spots where someone says something interesting, but not that many. That’s partly because of my point above, partly because they’re dog-tired, and partly because of the nature of panels like this.
